**Contract**:Permanent.
**Working Pattern**: Full-time, 37 hours per week.

As a Safety Audit Lead Professional, you will lead on the Road Safety Audit discipline of behalf of WSCC. In this role you will ensure the safety of our assets, listed above, for our residents. At West Sussex County Council, you will be able to build uponyour skillset with the variety of million-pound projects you will support on.
Working within our forward-thinking service you will provide guidance, advice and support to the wider serviceon safety engineering and road safety audit issues in line with national guidance. You will ensure that safety engineering schemes that you areoverseeing and delivered by third parties, are delivered efficiently and effectively.
You will be joining a very supportive team and service that is passionate about developing its staff and fully equipping them to deliver an ever growing programme of highways projects.
**Experience and Skills**
**Key Skills**:
- Advanced analytical skills in order to interpret and manipulate very varied and complex project information in relation to services/programmes required by the client.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate problems and resolve issues independently and making sound pragmatic decisions.
- Ability to organise and plan and meet set targets.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deliver a demanding road safety audit and project management service.
- Strong customer focus with the ability to work as a key client contact and provide a professional service to meet their needs.
- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
- Effective people management skills including performance management skills and the ability to provide direction.
**Qualifications and/or experience**:
- Degree, or equivalent qualification or experience in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, demonstrating that level of applied knowledge in researching, analysing and evaluating arguments and information.
- To hold, or be working towards the SoRSA certificate of competency.
- Experience working within a project management service.
- Demonstrable experience of providing professional / specialist advice on developing and implementing highways projects.
- Experience of supervising staff, contributing to the development an effective team to work together to meet objectives.
- Financial management experience with developed numeracy skills and having accountability for large budgets.
- Sound and accurate IT knowledge.
