Care Assistant/support Worker

**Overview**
Working for a small family-run company providing support for adults with learning disabilities throughout Dorset. Improving their skills and helping them achieve their own personal goals.
- To work with adults with learning disabilities and help empower them to develop their skills to lead a more independent and active life.
- Full & Part-Time from 16-40 hours per week.
- Sleeping Nights daily available.
- Full training available.
**Purpose of Position**
To deliver support and personal care to service users in a way that promotes independence and boosts self-esteem. To help develop skills and establish and maintain friendships and relationships. Full training available. The care provided by Care Support Workers includes care that would reasonably be given by members of the service user’s own family and will not include tasks that would normally be undertaken by a trained nurse. Only when trained to do so would Care Support Workers undertake any specialist tasks.
**Principal Responsibilities**
- To work with adults with learning disabilities and help them develop their skills and achieve their goals.
- To promote independence and an active lifestyle through taking service users out and joining in activities.
- To protect and safeguard service user’s wellbeing.
- To help service users establish new friendships and maintain relationships.
- To support service users with their interests and hobbies.
- To support service users in all domestic tasks including personal care (e.g dressing, washing and toileting needs).
- To help service users with mobility issues and other physical disabilities, including incontinence, and help in use and care of aids and personal equipment.
- To report and record daily activities, take part in staff and service user meetings, and undertake training activities where necessary.
- To comply with the company’s policies and procedures, at all times, which includes the service user’s care plan and medication needs as appropriate.
- To report to the registered manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user.
- All staff are required to attend mandatory training where appropriate, which includes induction and Diplomas from the Qualification Credit Framework.
- All Care Support staff are required to work to the expected standards detailed in the Code of Practice for social care and support workers as set out and amended by Skills for Care.
Hourly rate depends on experience.

Part-time hours: 16 - 36 per week
**Salary**: £11.60-£24.20 per hour
