We have an exciting opportunity for a **Transport Planner.**

**This is the ideal role **for someone with day-to-day transport planning experience, together with the commercial qualities to grow and expand our transport services to new and existing customers. In this role, you will deliver our transport movements, whilst building our transport service to achieve profitable growth.

- Have a good knowledge of EU Driver’s Hours Regs
- Able to manage compliance in line with legislation including maintenance planning/driver's checks
- Experienced at managing vehicle profitability/route planning/quoting
- Able to respond to external and internal customers in a prompt efficient manner
- Be able to establish and build positive customer relationships
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise, remaining calm under pressure
- Be self-motivated, with excellent problem-solving skills
- Have an excellent work ethic & attitude
- Be able to adapt to a flexible work pattern

**What the role involves**:
The role involves sourcing and quoting for work to build up a regular portfolio of clients and shipments. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day running of our small fleet, as well as managing sub-contract suppliers.

**You will**:

- Build effective relationships with customers to build trust, leading to growth of accounts
- Build a pipeline of potential new customers and routes
- Ensure the day-to-day tasks of booking on client’s transport requirements is completed in a timely and effective manner.
- Ensure the service levels received for our customers are at a high standard and meet their needs
- Provide quotes and negotiate with clients
- Liaise and negotiate with supplier
- Ensure effective route planning and vehicle profitability
- Build transport runs based on the most efficient and cost-effective ways possible
- Ensure consignments are optimised by efficient planning and use of our vehicle fleet

**Key responsibilities**
- Ensure the day-to-day tasks of booking on client’s transport requirements is completed in a timely and effective manner.
- Ensure the service levels received for our customers are at a high standard and meet their needs
- Deal with any issues with service and ensure these are resolved in a satisfactory manner.
- Manage compliance in line with legislation including maintenance planning/driver’s checks
- Provide quotes and negotiate with clients ensuring price and service meet clients’ needs
- Ensure effective route planning and vehicle profitability
- Build transport runs based on the most efficient and cost-effective ways possible
- Input consignment details on to internal systems with high accuracy
- Respond to customers and members of the On Logistics team in a prompt efficient manner by developing strong relationships
- Ensure consignments are optimised by efficient planning and use of our vehicle fleet
- Reconcile invoices ensuring agreed prices
- Handle transport issues and any complaints and be point of contact for escalations.
- Build effective relationships with clients to build trust and growth and profitability of accounts

**Experience**:

- Previous experience in transport planning or logistics is preferred
- Proficient in using transportation management systems and route optimization software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions
- Excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate with drivers, warehouse staff, and customers
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
