***Detention Services (DS) is part of IE and supports compliance across the immigration system through the detention and removal of individuals who no longer have the right to remain in the UK, and for whom other enforcement approaches have been unsuccessful.

DS is responsible for running the immigration detention estate, which principally comprises seven immigration removal centres (IRCs), with another two IRCs opening in due course. We have a responsibility to ensure that people in detention are held securely and safely and are treated with dignity and respect.

We are also supporting delivery of the Government’s priorities around illegal migration, including the Illegal Migration Act (IMA) recently passed in Parliament.

Immigration detention is highly scrutinised in the media, Parliament and by independent bodies and inspectorates. DS is responsible for ensuring recommendations are addressed and continuous improvements are made within the detention estate.

The Corporate Operations and Oversight Team (COOT) sits within DS and has a dynamic remit to support the operations of the detention estate and the teams operating onsite, to ensure that the people we detain are treated fairly and with respect.

Our work includes responding to Ministerial and public correspondence, Parliamentary Questions (PQs), Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and complaints, and leading for DS in responding to litigation and deaths in detention.

The team undertakes detention-related audit, assurance and risk management, and leads in responding to external reviews of the immigration detention estate; driving improvements for the people we detain, for DS and the wider business. The team collaborates with partners across the business to motivate change in operational policy development.

**Person specification**:
We have various EO roles across COOT, presenting an exciting opportunity for your to develop and embed a wide range of people and engagement skills within a high performing team, delivering what is required to continue to make the team a great place to work and to support staff and senior managers in delivery.

You will support operational colleagues and senior managers to ensure the welfare and fair treatment of those we detain, by performing important functions in a busy operational unit which receives continuous scrutiny and parliamentary interest. The role contributes to key business functions for Immigration Enforcement.
- Main duties may include but not limited to:
- Shared responsibility for the team inbox, including the identification of new work commissions, workload prioritisation and the escalation as required of high profile / urgent commissions.
- Assisting with gathering evidence from a range of internal and external operational partners and ensuring this is quality assured before sharing, as required.
- Producing high quality correspondence and briefing commissions within sometimes challenging performance targets.
- Monitoring and updating IT systems and workflow management for incoming work.
- Develop and build effective stakeholder relationships with business areas to enable effective partnership working and achievement of performance targets.
- Supporting the review and development of operational guidance.
- Providing quality assurance of documents and data, understanding the importance of accuracy, appropriate redactions and recognising where exemptions may be satisfied.
- Supporting with ad-hoc briefings and tasks.
- Provide administrative support to the HEOs as required.
