Helston, United Kingdom National Trust Full time

Rangers play a hugely important role at the National Trust, thinking long term to look after our special places. We are recruiting a Ranger to join our team at the Lizard and Penrose property on a fixed term post created due to a secondment within the wider ranger team.

What it's like to work here:The Lizard peninsula forms the southern-most point of mainland Britain. It is an area renowned for its rare wildlife, unique geology and its landscape of exposed heathlands, farmland, and narrow river valleys, with a rugged and dramatic coastline. The Lizard NT holding covers 940ha, all of which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), half as Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and 350ha is part of the Lizard National Nature Reserve (NNR). We also manage over 55ha of ancient and semi-natural woodlands working closely with our partner organisations on a landscape scale approach to conservation. We have approximately 50 miles of footpaths and bridleways with just under half part of the Southwest Coast Path. The team consists of 5 rangers, with 3 additional staff members being employed on a Species Recovery Project working to secure the future of 15 rare Lizard species.
