It's a brilliant time to be working within adult eating disorders services because of the developments and additional funding.
You will become part of a comprehensive multidisciplinary team which prides itself on working with service users in the community, wherever possible avoiding inpatient admission. We are proud that we have our own day unit and have recently developed a FREED early intervention pathway as well as medical monitoring, MARSIPAN and an intensive community pathway, all to complement our existing multi-disciplinary team.

We are looking to recruit a band 7 SYSTEMIC THERAPIST to our Adult Community Eating Disorders Service. We would like someone who is skilled and confident in working with families, ideally with some experience of working with people with eating disorders, and with a knowledge of or a willingness to learn other therapeutic modalities such as CBT, MANTRA or SSCM - the evidence based interventions for people with an eating disorder. There will be opportunities to run groups as well as to work closely with our senior systemic therapist.

Job Summary
The post-holder will work within the Adult Community Eating Disorder service. They will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing a high standard of service to adults with a moderate to severe eating disorder and their families/carers.
The post-holder will be autonomously responsible for assessing and delivering a high standard of family and systemic psychotherapy to adults and their families / carers with a range of highly complex emotional, psychological and physical problems.
The post-holder will work within professional guidelines and under the clinical/professional supervision of a senior clinicians of their own core profession
The post-holder will provide clinical/professional supervision to trainees on placement, more junior staff and multi-disciplinary colleagues for the purposes of training and continual professional development, as agreed with Lead Family and Systemic Psychotherapist
The post-holder will contribute to research, audit and evaluation for service development
The post-holder will work closely with adult mental health services, inpatient and day patient colleagues and the whole MDT, and will liaise with professionals from other agencies as appropriate.
Job Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibility
- To be responsible for a caseload and to work autonomously as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide systemic assessments, consultations and systemic psychotherapy for adults with eating disorders.
- To practise at a high level of clinical expertise and within relevant Codes of Practice and ethical guidelines, drawing on a wide range of models and techniques.
- To operate as a member of the multidisciplinary team providing an excellent eating disorders service, in line with NICE guidance and good practice.
- To be involved in the team duty system as required
- To support the members of the intensive community service and the day unit
- To conduct assessments of service users who want to come into the team to assess the presence of an eating disorder and whether the team is the best service to treat and support that individual
- To advise and work closely with the carers support worker
- To formulate a range of treatment options based on an appropriate conceptual framework and employing methods based upon evidence e.g. National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines for Eating Disorders.
