Gardener - 4221

Our client is looking for a Gardener to carry out grounds maintenance, horticultural services and winter maintenance. Duties include but are not limited to:

- General grounds/landscape maintenance including grass cutting, (using powered equipment where necessary) edging, trimming, weeding, watering, and checking of boundary fences carrying out basis first aid repairs where necessary.
- Flower bed and herbaceous border preparation and maintenance, including planting, pruning, seeding, watering etc. Trimming hedges and minor trees as necessary to provide an aesthetic disease-free environment. Re-landscaping of gardens and beds as directed.
- Daily maintenance of the external cleanliness and hygiene of the environment, picking up litter and debris, emptying litter bins, ensuring all bush and lawn areas are kept clear of rubbish and operation of the motorised litter clearance machine where necessary. The removal and disposal of rubbish from all external bins and rubbish units as necessary.
- Sweeping grounds, car parks, roads, external stairways, and hard areas.
- Snow clearance, using a snow plough as necessary, salting, and gritting of paths, roadways and car park areas during inclement weather.
- The use of the company vehicles to carry out duties on and off the property. Basic maintenance of vehicles e.g. Cleaning, Greasing and Checking as directed.
- The use of powered hand tools and light plant. Basic maintenance of plant and equipment e.g. cleaning, oiling, greasing and checking as directed.
- Carry out other appropriate work that may be deemed necessary within provided training, capability, and competence to the direction of the Supervisor or Co-ordinator.
- The Gardener is responsible for health and safety of themselves and any persons who may be affected by their actions or non-action
- Participate and complete safety Toolbox Talks and mandatory training.
- Follow and work to the company Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.

Duration: Permanent
Hours: 7am - 3pm Monday to Friday (37 hours per week), with on a rotational basis working Saturday and Sunday and two mid-week days off
Location: Newcastle - working between 2 locations within the Newcastle area

**Salary**: £21,400 pa

Suitable applicants must have recent experience within a similar role, have a full driving license to use the company vehicle between sites and those with any of the following would be highly attractive although this is not essential:

- Level 2 in Landscaping or Horticulture
- PASMA
- PA1 / PA6
