**About you**:
Ideally you will have previous experience of working in a large outdoor green space, either in parks, estates, or something similar. You will have a variety of skills that can be used in maintaining and shaping our grounds for the enjoyment of various visitors and users.

You should possess a motivated attitude to work and a willingness to work in the outdoors environment. Tasks will be varied and therefore being adaptable and skilled in a wide range of activities will be essential.

**Role Overview**:
We are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join an established team of 3 other members who care for our land and buildings. When you come to work at Norwood Park, you’ll be joining a team of dedicated employees who work towards the renovation and maintenance of the house and surrounding estate, where we always strive to achieve the highest possible standards of work and craftsmanship.

Your primary duties will be presenting the grounds to the highest possible standards. The role includes all grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, scarifying and strimming as well as looking after specialised machinery tools and equipment. Within the parkland arboriculture skills are necessary to enhance, fell, clear and remove trees as necessary. You are expected to drive a range of turf care machinery, and tractors daily to help complete maintenance tasks both in the grounds and parkland.

**Responsibilities**:

- Use and maintain a range of turf care ride on machinery to include cylinder mowers, flail mowers and compact tractors.
- Use and maintain a range of tractor towed turf care implements to include drill seeder, fertiliser spreader, harrow and roller.
- Complete landscaping tasks such as achieving correct levels, addition of topsoil, turfing and path instillation.
- Use a chain saw to clear large windblown trees, fell small trees and enhance the parkland on the estate.
- Maintenance of other estate properties and grounds required on a regular basis.
- Variety of tree planting and tree maintenance.
- Woodland Maintenance throughout the estate.

- Ensure high standards of Health and Safety.
- Committed to continuous development of own skills and knowledge, undergoing training where necessary.

**Requirements**:

- Experience in a ground’s maintenance, working in a large private garden, private estate, green keeper role or similar position.
- Relevant qualifications in grass care, construction, arboriculture (City and Guilds, IOG, LANTRA, BIGGA, or equivalent).
- PA1 & PA6 spraying certificate, or equivalent, are desirable (training will be provided where necessary).
- CS30 & CS31 chain saw training, or equivalent, is desirable.
- In-depth understanding of grounds keeping and upkeep needs.
- Competent in the use of a range of turf care equipment (handheld, pedestrian controlled, ride-on and tractor mounted).
- Be able to use and maintain a range of handheld and pedestrian controlled petrol powered and battery powered hand tools to maintain areas of the gardens and estate.
- Competent in the use of tractors and be prepared to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
- Hold a valid driving license.
- Computer literate.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Professional manner and confident communication skills.
- Proactive and flexible approach to work.
- Good attention to detail is vital, with high standards of work required at all times.
- Strong sense of discretion, appreciating the confidentiality of the work.
- Ability to work autonomously whilst possessing strong teamwork skills.

**Benefits**:
As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, you'll enjoy a remuneration package of £24,000 per annum. You'll receive 23 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays. You will be given the opportunity to attend our publicly listed events and seasonal fitness sessions and receive friendly support of a site-based work environment.
