**Academic Development Programme**:

**Role Summary**

The School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences is world-leading, performing cutting-edge and translational research in all aspects of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation. This allows us to address societal challenges from multidisciplinary perspectives through impactful research that also enriches our degree programmes.

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy who will make a significant contribution to education and administration. The role whilst based on our Edgbaston campus will likely require spending periods of time delivering educational activities on our Dubai campus. Through these activities the appointed person will significantly contribute to the development and delivery of our musculoskeletal physiotherapy education activity in both Dubai and Edgbaston. Alongside this they will be an excellent academic citizen, likely to be demonstrated through generous, mutually respectful, and supportive working relationships with all staff and students.

You will have an extensive background in musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice with applied clinical skills demonstrated across one or more of healthcare, community and sport and exercise settings. This will be complimented through membership or eligibility for membership to the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapy.

You will be an inspiring educator, able to clearly communicate to students of all levels and the public. You will contribute to programme delivery, leadership, and enhancement in physiotherapy, ensuring an excellent educational experience for your students.

You will advance teaching and learning practice in your modules within the school, take a role in curriculum development, and play an important role in supporting healthcare placement education, and student academic experience and pastoral support. You will deliver exceptional teaching that engages students and is informed by discipline-based research. Alongside this, you will demonstrate academic citizenship, developing, and maintaining mutually respectful and supportive working relationships with all staff and students, and ensuring the way you carry out your role impacts positively on how others carry out theirs.

In management and administration, you will undertake activities that develop and make a substantial contribution to key agendas. This includes but is not limited to stakeholder and public engagement, widening participation, schools outreach, or similar activities at School level.

**Main Duties**

**Education**

You will contribute across the range of teaching and learning activities:

- Teach and examine courses at a range of levels relevant to healthcare;
- Maintain your registration as a physiotherapist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC), and Dubai Health Authority if appropriate;
- Plan and review your own teaching approaches and encourage others to do the same;
- Design contemporary, inclusive, engaging and academically challenging curriculum content including where appropriate, develop programme proposals and make substantial contributions to the design and renewal of teaching programmes more widely;
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to design and deliver teaching, learning and assessment;
- Use digital resources/environments effectively to support learning and assessment;
- Develop and manage approaches to teaching and learning that are best practice in the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy;
- Advise others on aspects of learning, teaching and assessment;
- Deliver specific professional programmes including support of healthcare placement education;
- Advance the practice of teaching in their modules and within the school, and play an important role in student academic support;
- Ensure your teaching practice is underpinned by evidence-based research;
