Halifax, United Kingdom Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Due to promotion within the team we are looking to appoint a caring, flexible,
organised and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our small, friendly, child focused Paediatric Outpatient team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

We offer a variety of outpatient support for babies, children, young people and their families. The Paediatric Outpatient Service runs from three sites at Calderdale Royal Hospital, The Rainbow Community Hub, Elland and Acre Mill, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where a variety of outpatient services are offered to children and young people aged 0-18years.

This post is to cover 2 openings for part time, temporary position to cover maternity leave and a part time, permanent position and will involve working across all sites. The post holder will support the delivery of compassionate care to our service users and will act as Receptionist and Health Care Assistant across the teams. Applicants will preferably have experience of working in a health care setting and administrative duties. Our team will offer the relevant additional training and support to further develop this role.

We employ more than 6,500 staff who deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals, Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, health centres and in patients’ homes. We also are incredibly proud to have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.

We provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children’s and young people’s services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.

We provide community health services, including sexual health services in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres. These include Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.

We continue to modernise and invest in our health services to build on our strong reputation. Foundation trusts are public leaders in improving quality in health services. They are part of the NHS - yet decisions about what they do and how they do it are driven by independent boards. Boards listen to their Council of Governors and respond to the needs of their members - patients, staff and the local community.

Foundation trusts provide what the health service wants, yet are also free to invest quickly in the changes to the local community needs, in striving to be the best, and in putting their patients first.

- To ensure and maintain cleanliness and organisation in all areas of the ward in line with infection control audits and regular inspections.
- Promote the professional image of the Trust by maintaining at all times a neat appearance and helpful manner, paying particular attention to the need to deliver high standards of care, in accordance with the Trust’s policy quality standards and the Patient’s Charter.
- Ensure that at all times the policies and working practices of the Trust are observed particularly in relation to confidentiality.
- To attend unit and Multidisciplinary Team meetings as required.
- Collection and inputting of relevant data onto database ensuring it is kept up to date.

- Participates in all areas of clinical support required for the team.
- Undertakes training in and performs in enhanced roles that will assist qualified staff in the care of the unwell child, for example, phlebotomy and cannulation.
