At Hand on Heart Jewellery, we specialise in crafting memorial jewellery that provides comfort and closeness, allowing clients to feel connected to their loved ones through beautifully designed pieces incorporating ashes, hair, or fur. We are seeking a creative Jewellery Designer to join our team and focus on designing the manufactured base pieces of our jewellery, which will later be personalised by our in-house designers with the client's chosen materials.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Collaborate with the Managing Director to conceptualise and design the base elements of memorial jewellery pieces.
- Stay informed on the latest trends in fashion and consumer preferences to ensure our base designs are both innovative and marketable.
- Create detailed drawings and specifications for base designs, ensuring they are ready for precise manufacturing.
- Prepare specifications for CAD detailing to enhance the clarity and manufacturability of designs.
- Prepare detailed documentation for external manufacturing, liaising with partners to guarantee designs are executed accurately.
- Revise and adapt base designs based on feedback from the Managing Director and considerations for manufacturing requirements.
- Manage the development database and tracker, keeping all base design projects well-documented and up-to-date.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- Proven experience as a Jewellery Designer, specifically with designing base pieces for further customisation.
- Exceptional ability in technical drawing; proficiency in CAD is advantageous but not required.
- Comprehensive understanding of jewellery manufacturing processes and materials, with a focus on producing feasible base designs.
- Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with manufacturing partners and internal teams.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt designs based on technical feedback and manufacturing constraints.
- A strong creative drive, continuously seeking to innovate and refine the foundational elements of our jewellery.
**Job Details**:
- **Hours**: Part-time, 24 hours per week.
- **Location**: Primarily remote, with occasional required travel to our studio in Penrith, Cumbria for meetings and collaboration sessions.
- **Salary**: Starting at £26,000 per annum, pro rata. Compensation may be adjusted based on proficiency in CAD skills.
- **Employment Type**: Employed although Freelancing options considered.
