**What you'll be doing?**:
Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function - Barratt Partnerships.

While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don’t: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You’ll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business.

Reporting into the Senior Central Finance Manager, as Expenses Clerk you will be a key member of the Central Finance team. You will be responsible for validating expenses claims so that they can be approved and paid as well as resolving queries from internal stakeholders at all levels and supporting the drive to increase input VAT reclaims across the group.

You will be expected to:

- Work with two other members of the Expenses Support team to review expense claims submitted by all employees across the group for the following:

- Receipt validation; ensure receipts are valid receipts and if applicable, are VAT receipts; ensure that receipts have been added to the correct expenses items and the expense being claimed matches the receipt
- Reject claims if they do not have a valid receipt
- Review if claims have been completed correctly
- Amend Selenity for known, standard errors, such as an incorrect date, with a focus on reclaiming input VAT wherever possible
- Reject expenses claims with errors where appropriate and advise on the necessary corrections
- Approve claims once reviewed and confirmed to be acceptable
- Provide training and guidance to employees and be a point of contact for expenses.
- Reporting and analysis
- Promote the importance of accurate, compliant expense claims at all times.
- Support the Group Finance team with ad hoc requests and reports as required.

**What you'll need?**:
To be successful in the role, we are looking for:

- Well organised
- Able to prioritise work to achieve deadlines
- Attention to detail
- Proficient and comfortable working with Excel and Selenity (training will be provided)
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- Ability to manage stakeholder expectations as appropriate
- Ability to respond positively to changes in work practices
- Proven track record of identifying and implementing process

- Minimum 5 GCSEs at grade A-C (9-5), or equivalent qualification, including Maths and English
- Desirable: previous experience in a finance or administration role.
