Clinical Lead for Adult Community Speech

We wish to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic individual to take on the role ofClinical Lead for the Adult Community SLT Serviceon the beautiful Isle of Wight. This exciting post places the post holder in a strong clinical and professional role. The post holder will work directly with the SLT Professional Lead and Regaining Independence Cluster Lead to ensure patient care is delivered to the highest standard.

The Adult Community Speech and Language Therapy Service provide input across the Isle of Wight to Nursing and Residential homes and to patients’ own homes. The post holder must be able to manage a complex caseload within the Community setting demonstrating specialist knowledge and clinical skills; this will include management of patients with progressive neurological conditions, rehabilitation needs and a variety of other conditions. The post holder will be responsible for service development and will provide clinical supervision to members of the Community SLT Service.

Our department has established systems for supporting professional and managerial supervision, mentoring, and is committed to supporting professional development. We will ensure that you have access to regular CPD opportunities. Speech and Language Therapists are sited with their educational colleagues to enable continuity and coordinated support. The post holder will work closely with, and benefit from peer support from SLT Clinical Leads in Outpatients and Acute.

The Isle of Wight is a beautiful place to live with excellent opportunities for outdoor pursuits. Most of the Island is semi-rural with miles of unspoilt bridleways coursing through National Trust woods and over chalk downs. Spectacular cliff and coastal walks can be enjoyed all around the Island.

House prices compare favorably to the mainland and southern England with a wide choice of desirable property to suit all tastes. In addition, there are excellent public and private schools, and shopping and leisure facilities on the Island have improved enormously in recent years.

There are multiple frequent ferry links to the mainland and London can be reached in 90 minutes by rail from Southampton or Portsmouth. There is a regional airport at Southampton, just 30 minutes away, with flights to many European destinations as well as UK mainland cities.
