Health Care Chaplain for The Roman Catholic

We are seeking to appoint a Healthcare Chaplain with responsibility for the Roman Catholic Community to work within the UHNM Trust, across the two hospital sites, Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital, Stafford. Due to the identified Role requirements this post holder will need to be of a Roman Catholic faith, as is 'permitted under schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act 2010. We are looking for an ordained Priest in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church who is available to work flexibly and creatively to facilitate and deliver effective spiritual, religious and pastoral care within our Acute Trust.

As a member of the Chaplaincy
- Spiritual, Pastoral and Religious Care team, you will be working in a diverse setting and will be required to respond to the spiritual, religious, cultural and pastoral needs of patients, visitors and staff. The part time position (22.5 hours a week) will involve working set hours/ days and participating in a shared on-call rota (out of hours, weekends and bank holidays) with other chaplains and locums.

This would require you to live within a reasonable distance of the hospitals and have an ability to travel to the hospitals when needed.

It is an exciting opportunity to join an established chaplaincy team in the UHNM Trust.
- Spiritual, Pastoral and Religious (SPaRC) team to provide a compassionate, person centred and fully inclusive spiritual care service.

Share in the provision of religious, pastoral, spiritual and cultural support to all service users (including those of no faith and belief other than the Chaplain’s).

Primarily work with and support those of a Roman Catholic faith providing pastoral and sacramental care. This will involve responding to specific referrals and visiting wards to provide pastoral/ emotional care sacramental care and rituals, as well as sharing in the training and supervision of volunteers as is appropriate.

Provide a high standard of care, in line with the policies and guidelines of UHNM and in accordance with national chaplaincy guidelines and competencies.

Receive training and supervision to aid continuous development.

To provide regular ward visits and have a visible approach and profile on the wards across the hospitals, primarily at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

To provide a high standard of care, in line with the policies and guidelines of UHNM and in accordance with national chaplaincy guidelines and competencies.

In addition to working 0.6 FTE hours, the chaplain will participate in a shared on-call rota which will involve responding to out of hours and working at the weekend.
