London, United Kingdom streatham youth and community trust Full time

WE ARE SEEKING AN AMAZING PERSON TO HELP US DELIVER OUR NEW ‘COLOURS AND FRIENDS’ PILOT PROGRAMME FOR LGBTQ+ YOUNG PEOPLE AND ALLIES.

Colours and Friends is an innovative new pilot programme delivering a combination of one-to-one support, weekly LGBTQ+ youth work sessions, and monthly outings for LGBTQ+ young people and allies. This 12-month Lambeth-wide pilot programme is funded by Lambeth Council and aims to provide a safe space and positive activities to support the wellbeing of LGBTQ+ young people and allies aged 13 to 19.

We are looking for a very special person to join our amazing youth work team in Streatham to lead on the day-to-day delivery of the Colours and Friends programme. Working with young people aged 13 - 19, you will run a weekly LGBTQ+ group session offering a safe space to meet and socialise for young people who identify as LGBTQ+. In addition, you will organise a monthly ‘Colours and friends’ event in partnership with other Lambeth-based organisations. These monthly events will give LGBTQ+ young people and allies an opportunity to engage in positive, confidence building activities whilst also giving opportunities to start exploring any questions they may have around gender identify, expression and sexual preference. Finally, you will offer one-to-one support sessions for those requiring further support or signposting.

To be successful in the role, you will need knowledge and experience of working with young people and a real passion for supporting LGBTQ+ young people and their allies. In addition, you need to be a strong networker, with a can-do attitude, and a flair for coming up with fun activities and outings that young people will want to engage in.

We know people like you are as rare as unicorns, but we are optimistic that the right person is out there waiting for an opportunity like this.

Job Purpose:
To run a Lambeth-wide pilot project for young people aged 13 - 19 who identify with the LGBTQ+ community
- Plan and deliver engaging weekly sessions, monthly events and one-to-one sessions.
- Build strong working relationships with the young people accessing the service in a strength-based and trauma-informed way.
- Work with our partners to co-produce and promote the monthly events and wider service ensuring the pilot programme is accessible for young people across Lambeth.
- Ensure Young people are actively involved ion co-producing the pilot programme.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records using the databases available to record and monitor young people’s journey through the service in line with reporting requirements.
- Follow SYCT’s policies and procedures and proactively seek advice from the Principal Youth Worker and Designated Safeguarding Lead as required.

The post holder must comply with Streatham Youth and Community Trusts health and safety policy and is required:
- To take reasonable care for their own health and safety at work and of those who may be affected by their actions or by their omissions.
- To cooperate with their line manager and senior management, to work safely, to comply with health and safety instructions and information and undertake appropriate health and safety training as required.
- Not to intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare.
- To report to their manager any health and safety concerns, hazardous condition or defect in the health and safety arrangements.

Any further Health and Safety responsibilities relevant to this post will be set out in the offer letter and employee handbook

The post holder must comply with Streatham Youth and Community Trusts Safeguarding policies for safeguarding children and safeguarding adults and is required:

- To ensure they are aware of the signs that may suggest a child or vulnerable adult is being abused or neglected.
- To report to their manager, or other appropriate manager, any concerns they may have that suggest that a child or vulnerable adult may be being abused or neglected immediately.

Any further Safeguarding Board responsibilities relevant to this post will be set out in the offer letter and employee handbook
