Sailmaker

Dolphin Sails has a 60 year history of making sails and covers and has a long standing relationships with boat builders and a strong retail customer presence. We are seeking an enthusiastic Sailmaker to join our team primarily at our West Mersea, (Essex) loft. As a Sailmaker, you will be joining our in house team who are responsible for manufacturing sails from dinghies to superyachts.

Whilst we are seeking an individual that ideally has sailmaking experience we would also be very interested to discuss the role with artistic individuals with experience in têxtile manufacture or creative artists.

**Responsibilities**:

- Fabricate sails according to manager / customer specifications and requirements
- Repair damaged sails.
- Measure boats and assist in taking sails/covers to jobs.
- Perform sail inspections to identify any issues or areas in need of repair

Desirable skills:
Whilst any level of skills would be considered, ideally we would like;
- Proven experience as a Sailmaker or in a similar role
- Proficient in sailmaking techniques, including cutting, sewing, and finishing, use of industrial machines desirable
- Ability to read and interpret sail plans and specifications
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in workmanship
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot sail-related issues
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with customers and team members
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: From £11.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
