We are looking to recruit a full time, Clinical Associate in applied Psychology, based in the North PTT, providing clinical services, including the assessment and treatment of a broad range of psychological difficulties, working with clients, their families and/or carers as necessary; through individual, family or group work. The post-holder will liaise and work jointly, as appropriate, with the other mental health professionals operating within the CMHT of the Hamilton Locality, the wider sphere of NHS Lanarkshire and other external agencies. The work pattern for this post is Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (negotiable).

There may be a requirement to become involved in activities across the wider work of the adult mental health teams operating within NHS Lanarkshire, e.g. staff training.

**JOB PURPOSE**
- To work within a multidisciplinary Psychological Therapies team (or equivalent) providing evidence-based treatments for individuals with mild to moderate psychological disorders. This will involve a mix of individual clinical work and involvement in the provision of group interventions.
- To provide Psychological therapies to adults with a wide range of mental health problems including anxiety and depressive disorders
- To manage own caseload within specialty area using specialist techniques and maintain clinical related records.
- To work with clinical psychology colleagues, and other mental health professionals to provide a psychology service to patients.
- To contribute to service delivery and to participate in service evaluation within the area as directed.

**KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB**

The post holder must:

- Have an honours degree in Psychology (eligible for GBR)
- Masters (or equivalent) degree in Psychological Therapy.
- Have relevant clinical experience and a commitment to ongoing continual Professional Development
- Attend in-house and external curses pertaining to computer training, moving and handling, management of aggression and violence, and lone worker guidelines etc.
- Have knowledge of national and professional guidelines for optimal standards of clinical care
- Have some knowledge of psychiatry and other related professions in order to understand complex clinical presentations
- Commitment to ongoing continuing Professional Development
- Have excellent communication skills
- Be aware of the limits of one’s competence and expertise and work within these boundaries (particularly within the initial post-graduate year). Work in a sensitive manner with respect to diversity in gender, ethnic cultural and physical issues with a wide range of individuals
