**Job summary**:

- We are looking for a lead graphic designer to bring to life our work in the form of digital assets. You’ll be able to conceptualise content ideas, working with the wider team on one off projects as well as campaigns. You should have strong attention to detail, develop a clear understanding of UKHSA brand guideline requirements and be able to tailor design to modern accessibility requirements whilst still producing vibrant, creative results._
- We create lots of digital assets to support our handling of health incidents and emergencies. You’ll input on visualising health data, informing the public on a wide range of public health topics and explaining scientific information to a wide audience. We use these assets across our social channels and create packs for stakeholders. The role is fast-paced and you’ll be comfortable handling multiple projects at once, working closely with the graphic designer, senior creative manager and the wider comms team._
- For larger projects, your work may involve assisting on planning and may include storyboarding, mood boards and overall technical delivery advice. You will have line management responsibility for the graphic designer post. We are a close knit team and you’ll have support and plenty of opportunity to discuss briefs and ideas, as well as take the space needed when working on bigger projects._

**_ Creative management tasks_**
- _ To fully understand the core UKHSA brand guidelines and ensure standards are kept throughout all graphic design work_
- _ Working closely with the content team and wider communications colleagues to offer advice on design_
- _ Line management of the other graphic designer in the content team, working together to ensure a strong design service is on offer to the communications team_
- _ Preparing and presenting rough pre-production concept drafts to assist with creative planning_
- _ Collaborating with other people within the Content Team to work on larger projects which require a variety of specialist skills_

**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**:
**Qualifications**
- Educated to degree level

**Knowledge and experience - **experience as defined by type/level (not length)
- At least four years working in graphic design roles

**Skills and capabilities**
- Experience and understanding of layout based graphic design work and non-illustrative design
- Extensive experience of Adobe Creative Suite / specialist software for your area of expertise
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with health or science portfolios

**Equality and diversity**

**Desirable**
- Degree in graphic design or similar
- Professional accredited qualification
- Experience of working in a content production team with a group of creatives
- Experience of line management
- Experience of creating content for different social media sites and an understanding of content optimisation for these platforms
