First Mile are London’s leading recycling service, helping collect refuse from over 30,000 locations across the city. We need an amazing and efficient Cyclist Supervisor to lead our team of London-based cyclists to deliver a great delivery and collection service to our customers.

**Job Purpose**:The purpose of this role is to keep the cycling department organised and efficient as it grows progressively over the next few years. The Cyclist Supervisor ensures the cyclists are all working safely and motivated, as well as managing the bicycle fleet’s general health. They are responsible for the company bicycles, Cyclists and bicycle depots and report directly to Assistant Operations Manager (AOM) and Transport manager.

**Key Accountabilities**

**Maintenance of the fleet**: Booking in broken down bicycles and ensuring bicycles are sent to the garage and returned to the yard in a timely manner.

**Organisation of shifts**: Checking all cyclists are starting shifts on time and with correct equipment and stock.

**Onboarding and training **of new recruits in the team.

**Balancing of rounds where needed**: Report to AOM any shift difference in working hours or tonnage and propose how to balance these. Plan and roll out any new rounds and provide feedback to AOM.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**Bicycle maintenance**
- Booking bicycles with the garage to fix defects and breakdowns
- Ensuring bicycles are sent to the garage on the correct days
- Reporting regularly to the Transport Manager on fleet health and recurring defects
- Creation of the daily bicycle and cyclists plan ensuring all the rounds are covered
- Keeping CONVEY up to date daily
- Reporting to AOM and Transport manager regularly on ongoing safety training / TBT needs for the cyclist department

**Cyclist supervision**
- Ensuring every member of the team starts on time and with the correct PPE
- Ensuring everyone in the team is performing to the required standards
- Making sure cyclists have keys to our garages and welfare spaces
- Providing welfare support to other cyclists as required
- Consulting with the Assistant Operations Manager on the rota and coverage in case of sickness or holiday from the team.
- Flagging any coverage or driver issues to the Assistant Operations Manager
- Checking stock levels on a regular basis at the depot and requesting the delivery of additional stock from Minerva to ensure all deliveries can go ahead smoothly every day
- Spending some time in-office to design and refine rounds using Salesforce, where necessary collaborating with our PM Driver Trainer to do so.

**Cyclist infrastructure**
- Keeping consolidation points clean and tidy, providing pictures to supervisors during/at end of shift
- Expanding our number of hubs and consolidation points to help the department continuously grow

**Key Skills Required**:

- Outstanding communication skills - able to inform, help and advise our garages and team clearly and liaise effectively with other team members including the AOM and Transport Manager
- Organisational skills - able to juggle multiple duties and pro-actively manage the fleet and team
- Able to adapt effectively to changing priorities
- Understanding of the Microsoft Office package including Outlook, Work and Excel is a plus
