An excellent opportunity to join a friendly office based in Leicestershire, due to continued growth and success the team is has enlisted FRS to help recruit for an Trainee Refractory Engineer.

Job Summary
The Trainee refractory Engineer will be responsible for learning how to determine design,
finalise materialselection, coordinating schedule for drafting and manufacturing, maintaining
a cost budget, and confidently deal with both internal and external customers handling
technical and commercial correspondence and negotiations as required.
They will also learn how to review and amend refractory drawings.

Primary duties include but are not limited to:

- Design, estimate and execute technical and commercial offers for refractory related
- Prepare shop release file confirming scope of supply based on customer specifications
and as sold proposals.
- Determine material selection and design, providing design calculations to establish
final refractory design.
- Establishes and tracks cost budget for jobs by working closely with internal sales
department and specialist sub-vendors.
- Prepare delivery schedules based on customer requirements and manufacturing
workloads
- Liaise with approved suppliers to ensure and maintain schedules and vendor
competition.
- Liaise with Quality Control Department with customer/job specifications, ITP
requirements and any exceptional customer or QC detail.
- Confidently communicate both technically and commercially through correspondence
related to any potential or secured job both internally and externally.
- Shop Order write-up and revisions logs ensuring documents are properly revised.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Some of these duties may include:
- 1. Quotation/sales support
2. Conducting field survey visits
3. Supporting Refractory Design Engineering
- Assist in designing and producing refractory engineering drawings, detailing
equipment for manufacture.
- Utilise computer-assisted drafting (CAD) system to complete assignments.
- To actively work towards maintaining and improving the Quality system whilst
adhering to the requirements of the ISO9001: 2015.
- To ensure that the Company Health and Safety Policy is adhered to, actively
promoting a safe working environment.
Success criteria
- Projects and objectives completed within time and budget constraints.
Desired Competencies
- Competent in AutoCAD Mechanical, may develop into Inventor 3D
- Ability to layout refractory design detail
- Engineering background advantageous
- mechanical/chemical/ refractory/Industrial
- Excellent verbal and written communicator, both internal & external & a team player
- Ability to create trust and relationships with customers.
- IT skills with Word package competencies; PM, Excel, Word as a minimum
- Able to travel & work at elevations and confined spaces

Desirable
- Industrial, Power & Petrochemical and/or refinery background
- Refractory material selection, design and or installation experience.
- Site experience
