The Senior Habilitation Specialist helps people with sight loss to live the life they choose by delivering specialist habilitation (mobility, orientation and independent/daily living skills) services, supervisory of Habilitation Specialists, and enabling independence and freedom to blind and partially sighted children and young people.

This role supports the North East & Yorkshire which includes Leeds, Sheffield, Hull and Newcastle. You’ll be working 35 hours per week, our core hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. We will require flexibility to work outside of these including occasional evenings and weekends in order to meet the needs of our service users.

**Essential**
- Nationally recognised qualification in habilitation training for children and young people with visual impairment.
- Habilitation and Disabilities of Sight Graduate Diploma.
- Rehabilitation Officer Diploma/Certificate with relevant Children & Young People experience.
- Both Mobility Officer and Technical Officer Certificates with relevant Children & Young People experience.
- Qualified teacher of visual impairment with a recognised mobility qualification.
- Registered or ability to register immediately with Habilitation VI UK professional body.
- Able to demonstrate ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
- In the absence of a valid UK Driving License, you will be expected to demonstrate how you will fulfil this aspect of the role via alternative means.
- Can evidence a thorough understanding of the habilitation profession and interest and motivation to develop it.
- Ability to coach/ mentor trainee and qualified habilitation specialists.
