The role of the Court Assistant is to provide administrative support to the Military Court in Catterick. This would suit a highly motivated individual who wants to combine their administrative and interpersonal skills to make difference to the journey of the victim, witness and defendant through the court process within the Service Justice System.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week

**Job description**:
To provide this high-quality service, the Court Assistant will assume the following responsibilities:

- Create limited paper files.
- Prepare case file for Pre-Trial Preparation Hearings (PTPH), trial or sentencing process.
- Obtain partially completed Better Case Management (BCM) form from Prosecution and Defence in preparation for the PTPH.
- Obtain all contacts details for the parties attending all hearings.
- Produce nominal rolls, including room allocations for each case.
- To order and reconcile the daily lunches when courts are sitting.
- Distribute relevant files for Judge.
- Prepare sentencing paperwork.
- Create Board packs for Board Members.
- Create and distribute Medio, Zoom or Microsoft Team links (as appropriate) for all hearings, sentencing and witnesses for trial.
- Record and bookmark court proceedings using the Digital Audio Recording system (DAR), under the supervision of the Deputy Court Officer.
- Assist with the completion and distribution of post-trial paperwork.
- Brief and familiarise weekly Court Administration Teams on their duties, court layout and procedure.
- Ensure a court vehicle is available each week.
- Archive all files back to Court Administration Unit (CAU).
- To assist with the operation of the Digital Audio Recording equipment in court.
- Assist with the preparation of paperwork for Board Members attending court duty.
- Brief and familiarise weekly Court Administration Teams on their duties, court layout and procedure.
- Prepare all bills for payment, action and maintain a record of local expenditure.
- Publish and display Public Notices.
- General Office Duties.
- Assist the Court Officer and Deputy Court Officer with routine tasks.
- Deputise for the Deputy Court Officer when absent.
- Assume the fellow Court Assistant role when absent.
- Complete mandatory and further development training.
