An opportunity has arisen to join our Respiratory Physiology Department. We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Respiratory Physiologist to join our busy, and evolving service.

Our Trust currently has 1 band 7 Physiologist based at Bolton One, a clinic at the heart of Bolton Town Centre. We also have a bank staff band 6, and a band 3 currently training to become ARTP accredited. Additionally, we are working towards developing both band 2 and band 4 apprentice physiologists in our team. We are expanding rapidly to support GP services within the area.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who wants to excel professionally and is committed to providing a high-quality service. You must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

**Main Duties**:
To competently perform a full range of basic lung function tests on adult out-patients.

To competently analyse and report lung function tests.

To review and prioritise requests for respiratory investigations within lung function.

To liaise with medical staff and booking team

To effectively, promptly, and professionally respond to emergency situations, maintaining control and requesting assistance as necessary.

To participate in training for on-going professional development and maintain standards of technical competency.

To assist with the efficient running of the technical service by prioritising the daily workload where appropriate.

To deputise for the Manager when necessary and undertake any other duties as required.

In 2020 we came together with our partners to radically change the way we deliver health and care services in Bolton. The aim was to build an Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) where we all worked together to improve people’s health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities across the system.

Ensure a high standard of technical and clinical competence

Perform analyse and report all routine lung function investigations within Respiratory Physiology Laboratory including Spirometry, Diffusion Studies, Lung Volume Measurements by Plethysmography and Nitrogen Washout Techniques, 6 Minute Shuttle Walk Tests, Impulse Oscillometry, Feno and Respiratory Muscle Pressure tests to required National /Departmental standard.

Perform analyse and report Overnight Oximetry Test

Ensure calibration and quality control of equipment is carried out for all procedures.

Assist and support the Lead Respiratory Physiologist in the safe effective management of the department including management of personnel, facilities and associated systems and processes.

Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation

Actively try to resolve issues and complaints at local level and then report the outcome to line manager.

Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care

To participate in education and training of junior staff.

Actively participate in research studies.

Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within scope of role and professional practice
