At UK Biocentre, we are looking for a Laboratory Technician to join the team.
The core laboratory services offered by UK Biocentre include a wide variety of sample processing techniques which includes, but not limited to, sample preparation and reformatting, nucleic acid extraction, quantification and normalisation, tissue preparationetc. This role involves providing support as required under the supervision of the NIHR UKBC Laboratory Manager and Senior Technicians.
**As Laboratory Technician, your responsibilities will include**:

- Conducting processes and procedures across a wide range of UK Biocentre projects.
- Complying with procedures (e.g., use of SOP’s, Technical Memorandums).
- Adhering to quality standards.
- Complying with ISO documentation and procedures.
- Complying with Health and Safety documentation and procedures.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory, including regular cleaning rota.
- Operating and maintaining equipment (manual and automated systems).
- Updating the NIHR UKBC Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Taking part in training programmes and development activities.
- Training and assessing fellow colleagues when required.
- Undergoing regular periodical competency assessments.
- Ensuring sample integrity and traceability.
- Carrying out sample inventories on regular basis.
- Maintaining professional working attitude at all times.

- The ability to listen and clearly demonstrate understanding of ideas and instructions.
- The ability to plan, organise and control a number of different activities.
- Setting and maintaining high standards for self.
- Ensuring the required high-quality standards are consistently met.
- The ability to work unsupervised, follow process and adhere to SOPs.
- Thrive in a team environment.
- Must have a collaborative style both in approach to own area and supporting others.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

Hours - Monday - Sunday between 8am - 8pm
