Maintenance Fitter

Reed Engineering are working with a family run business who is the South East’s largest independent Electrical / Mechanical engineering company with 3 sites across Kent and Essex. Due to their recent expansion and acquisition of a long-term contract witha major utility company, they are looking for experienced personnel to join their team.

Purpose of Role:
Mechanical fitting activities associated with the dismantling, inspection, repair and
overhaul, assembly and testing of rotating equipment to deliver the highest quality of
repair, on time and to budget, and in accordance with Company and customer
specific HSEQ requirements.

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:

- Dismantle, inspection, condition assessment & subsequent reporting on the
received equipment.
- Liaise with supervisors and managers to propose repairs, refurbishment and
processes to return identified equipment to a serviceable condition and to the
relevant specifications.
- Carrying out various mechanical fitting activities with a degree of flexibility and
integrity and working efficiently to achieve “on time” targets of an excellent quality to
company procedures.
- A pro-active approach to health, safety and environmental practices in the
workshop at all times and assist in driving the required culture by adopting our key
safety values.
- Ensure all pre-safety checks are completed, and that all equipment and guarding in
the fitting area is maintained to a high standard where appropriate liaising with
Supervisor/Manager.
- Work with Supervisor/Manager to ensure accurate and on time completion of
equipment repairs, completing strip down reports, assembly rebuild records,
Workshop Instructions and Balance Certificates where applicable to meet
departmental daily/weekly work schedules.
