Ldu Assistant

To operate in accordance with the practice Infection Control Policy

The LDU Assistant must:
SUMMARY
- Transport Clean instruments to the Treatment Room from the LDU
- Transport Dirty instruments to the Local Decontamination Unit from the Treatment Room
- Clean and Disinfect all Instruments
- Sterilise Instruments
- Correctly store instruments after sterilisation
- Perform daily and weekly tests on all sterilisers
- Maintain all the equipment in the LDU and arrange maintenance, servicing and validation with the appropriate engineers
- Perform weekly and monthly tests on the ultrasonic baths
- Disinfect and record all incoming Laboratory work
- Dispose of all clinical waste in accordance with the ICP
- Ensure smooth running of the LDU.

This role does not require a qualified dental nurse. However it does require training, audits and all members of staff who enter the LDU must be inoculated. Experience would be beneficial but not essential
