NIHR Clinical Research Facility (CRF) clinical research fellow in the field of advanced therapy medicinal products. A Fellowship for an adult Fellow is open to those training in or wishing to develop a clinical or research interest in advanced therapy medicinal products, or associated field (such as oncology or haematology). This will either be a Junior or Senior role depending on experience and level of current training.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

The Southampton National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is the operational centre of translational research at the University of Southampton (UoS) and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). The CRF operates to support research across all specialities and brings together all areas engaged in clinical translational research (including the current Southampton NIHR CRF, NIHR Biomedical Research Centre and NIHR CRUK Experimental Cancer Research Centre).The NIHR CRF is part of a national network of CRFs with adult and paediatric capability.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
- The primary role of this post is to assist the Directors and investigators in the running of clinical studies for patients in the CRF, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and Wessex Research Hubs including early phase clinical trials of vaccines, biological agents and other new drugs.
- The post holder should work to ensure that all studies are conducted to Good Clinical Practice.
- Working patterns are flexible depending on the study and visit requirements. Some out of hours working is required and contribution to an on-call study phone rota is required.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Individuals with a minimum of two years post registration general/acute (Internal) medicine experience and MRCP or equivalent
- Individuals who are keen to learn more about clinical research and are interested in the potential of further research training (MD/PhD)

People who can contribute and work well with our multi-professional team within the CRF

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed (non-training fellow doctors and dentists).

Grades for Trust appointed (non-training) fellows will be paid a basic salary at a nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular. Basic salary detailed below plus any additional remuneration (as applicable) for hours set out in the doctors work schedule (e.g. additional hours, weekend allowance, and any hours which attract enhanced pay)

Basic Salary - MT03 £43,923 Basic Salary - MT04 £55,329 Basic Salary - MT05 £63,152

Salary will be assessed based on experience and skills. Eligibility criteria for appointment to a Nodal Point 5;
- Have a minimum of 6 years of Specialty training
- Hold relevant higher specialty exam (e.g FRCP, FRCA, FRCS)
- A portfolio of evidence that demonstrates they meet the criteria for progression (in line with the Curriculum for the speciality similar to deanery trainee)

Travelling expenses will not be paid for attending interview
