Activity Worker

Little Hulton, United Kingdom Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time

**Work Pattern**: Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the service, including evenings and weekends (Can be discussed)

Are you motivated by engaging Older Adults in recreational, meaningful activities and seeing the direct benefit of this on their health and wellbeing? Are you creative, enabling you to facilitate innovative and appealing activities for patients? Are you driven and able to work autonomously to develop this new strand of activity provision and improve our offer for patients at Woodlands Inpatient Unit?

If the answer is yes, an exciting opportunity has been arisen, following retirement. We are looking for a Band 3 Activity Worker, to lead on developing and implementing a, predominantly out-of-hours, activity provision at Woodlands Inpatient Unit.

You would be working with an enthusiastic, hardworking ward team, who value the benefits of recreational activity for patients on the ward. You would also get support from your peers on our other two wards and attend a regular Activity Worker and Occupational Therapy Assistant Forum.

The role of the unit is to provide specialist mental health assessment, diagnosis, and individual person centred care and treatment. All care and treatment delivered will be based on the principals of recovery that promote dignity, independence and choice. The Inpatient Unit, has three mental health wards, which provide assessment and treatment for Older Adult patients, who have functional and organic mental health conditions, and associated complex and challenging needs. You would be based on one of the three wards, following careful consideration of skill mix. You would be expected to support, and at times cover for, your colleagues unit wide.

Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over 6,400 members of staff, who deliver services from more than 160 locations.

We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford, Trafford and the borough of Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond.

Greater Manchester is one of the world's most innovative, original and exciting places to live and work. From the beauty of the surrounding countryside to the heart of the vibrant inner city with great shopping, entertainment and dining options.

Wherever you go you will experience a great northern welcome with people famed for their warmth, humour and generosity.

Our people enjoy their work, have opportunities to learn and develop their skills and are encouraged to generate new ideas that improve care for our service users.
