**Plymouth CAST, one of the largest Catholic Multi Academy Trusts in the country, is seeking to**

**appoint a Business Manager to work in our two secondary schools based in Plymouth, Devon.**

The Trust is seeking to appoint an experienced, highly organised and efficient Business Manager who will support the College’s senior leaders to create budgets and financial forecasts for the secondary provisions, in line with the Trust processes and systems.

Executive Headteacher and school SLT in the management and improvement of facilities and premises, including procurement.

As Business Manager, you will be responsible for the effective implementation of financial processes to ensure the timely provision of accurate information, financial or otherwise, to aid the decision-making processes for the schools.

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably skilled person to join the Trust and work in its community of highly motivated staff, as well as having the opportunity to work with the Trust’s Chief Finance Officer.

You will need significant financial management experience within the education sector. Alongside developed organisational skills and excellent communication skills, you will be a strategic thinker and problem solver, with experience of building relationships with colleagues, contractors and outside agencies.

Essential requirements are:

- Qualified Accountant or AAT qualified with a minimum of 3 years in school experience
- Computer literate with excellent excel skills in additional to the financial system expertise
- Experience of working with computer software package, including Access Dimensions, HCSS, Excel,

PowerPoint, Publisher
- Sympathetic and supportive of the Catholic nature and aims of the Trust and to upholding the

Gospel Values.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Developed organisation skills with the ability to set and meet deadlines.
- A full driving licence and use of a car to meet the travel required for the post.

Line Management Responsibility

Up to 5 employees

Purpose of Role

Responsible for providing a comprehensive school business management support to two secondary schools, including finance, contracts, the security of the premises and related health and safety, maintenance and cleaning within the schools. Support the
Headteacher in the management and improvement of facilities and premises, including procurement.

Key Accountabilities
- Line management responsibility for the site managers, finance administration staff and catering managers.
- Provide high level financial planning support and leadership to all aspects of the budget, asset and financial management within the designated financial regulations and procedures.
- Work with senior leadership within the schools to prepare and submit the annual budget and 3-year forecast to the Trust CFO, including a review of capital needs.
- Provide in-year budget updates as necessary for each school as requested by the Trust CFO.
- Support the CFO through providing information for ESFA reporting, including the

Budget Forecast Return, year-end accounts and the Annual Return.
- Manage and reconcile the bank accounts (if retained) for each school, ensuring income and expenditure is only for parental and voluntary contributions.

- Reconcile the monthly credit card spend for each school. Ensure credit card spend is compliant with the financial procedures.
- Support the financial accounting team with re-directing any invoices or expenditure information to the Accounts Payable team.
- Ensure relevant records relating to finances are retained for audit.
- Ensure outstanding commitments are regularly reviewed, updating the system as necessary to ensure accurate financial reporting.
