**Buyer - Direct Materials**

**What will you be doing?**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Buyer of UK Direct Materials to join our team here at Tate & Lyle Sugars. Reporting to our Procurement Manager, you will be supporting assigned categories by independently sourcing materials and/or services through day-to-day work activities or through assigned special projects. We are a team responsible for maintaining positive business relationships with both internal and external customers.

As part of your role here as a Buyer, you will also be responsible for the complete analysis of assigned categories by producing relevant metrics and generating SAP reports as well as the ability to make sound business decisions.
- Responsible for processing a high volume of requisitions from multiple sites under assigned categories.
- Prepares and coordinates agreements for assigned commodities aligned with Scope of Work, VMI and end user requirements.
- Releases orders in a timely fashion while closely adhering to established company guidelines.
- Independently negotiates contracts, price, and supplier agreements.
- Evaluates, qualifies, and selects suppliers based on quality, service, cost, and capability.
- Ensures all agreements, purchases, and initiatives comply with established department policies and procedures.
- Stays abreast of current marketplace trends in price of critical indexes, suppliers, and/or other conditions affecting business in assigned categories.
- Utilizes the company ERP system (SAP) to run complex reports and perform analytics.
- Completes special projects as assigned.

This role is based at our Thames Refinery in East London - hybrid working is available.

**What are we looking for?**
- A background in direct procurement
- Knowledge of Empty packaging, ingredients or Process Chemicals would be a plus.
- Previous experience of working with SAP in a similar role
- Ability to understand internal demands as they relate to the purchases of goods and services for the business.
- Ability to recognize areas for Continuous Improvement
- Ability to analyze complex information and perform root cause analysis.
- Proven experience in fostering strong relationships internally and externally.
- utilize Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook on an Advanced Level
- Power BI would be advantageous.
