Our client is an Investors in People Gold accredited organisation and is currently recruiting for an Assistant Director of Finance on a permanent full-time basis.

**Duties will include (but not limited to)**:

- Responsible for five direct reports including three Finance Business Partners (Management Accounts, Joint Ventures and Income), one Capital Accountant and one Finance Manager, as well as seven indirect reports
- Provide a comprehensive professional financial service for the business and its subsidiaries, including statutory and management accounts, budgets and budgetary control, capital accounting and VAT, as well as supporting the Group’s Joint Venture companies
- Lead on the corporate strategy of Value For Money by reviewing current Joint Ventures and Partnerships, analysing KPIs and ensuring compliance with financial regulations
- Responsible for attending biweekly meetings with all Assistant Directors and evening Board Meetings on a monthly basis
- Carry our regular performance reviews and appraisals with staff, ensuring best practice is adhered to across all teams
- Hold responsibility for Risk Management, Procurement and Insurance for the organisation, providing support to the Deputy Chief Executive in the provision of all these areas
- Worked with the Capital Accountant to ensure proper capital accounting processes and monitor the fixed assets register so that it is accurate and up to date, with depreciation being calculated and accounted for correctly
- Monitor VAT returns so all registrations are completed and submitted correctly and on time
- Oversee the Group’s financial accounts by maintaining accounting records and carrying out Group consolidations, as well as producing Year End statutory and group accounts
- Responsible for accurate and timely monitoring and reporting on financial performance against budget and targets to each part of the business

**Experience required**:

- Fully qualified accountant with a background in the relevant sector
- Extensive experience of working within a complex, multi-function organisation
- Leading on corporate issues (including non-financial ones) for the Finance service
- Experience of implementing complex financial strategies and monitoring their effectiveness
- Knowledge of preparing grant claims and statistical returns to strict deadlines and achieving audit certification with minimum queries

**Skills, knowledge and expertise required**:

- Experience and understanding of Registered Providers’ finance and related legislation, including the Accounting Code of Practice, accounting standards and relevant professional and housing guidance
- Ability to write and present clear and concise reports, including financial comments on reports
- Relevant professional qualifications
