Las Fy2 in Cardiothoracic

Applications are invited for a FY2 LAS in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Royal Stoke Hospital. This post provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in cardiothoracic surgery and develop basic surgical skills. The post is for 4 months. The post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-daycare of cardiothoracic patients on both the ward and ITU, working in conjunction with cardiothoracic middle-grades, consultants and allied professionals to provide high quality care to our pateints. Participation in the on-call rota, including out of hours and weekend
working is required as part of the post. Regular attendance in theatre is part of the role and therefore the post-holder would have the opportunity to develop his/her surgical skills during
the post.
Initial clerking, assessment and management of all cardiothoracic patients admitted.
- Management of all patients on the wards and any outlying wards.
- Referral of patients to other specialities.
- Necessary emergency investigation, treatment and escalation
- Faciltation of the timely discharge of patients, mainly through the preparation of
discharge paperwork
- Attendance of daily theatre lists
- Opportunities to be involved in research and audit projects
