Head of Finance

Job Dimension:
Responsible for Financial Accounting for 4 entities (PLOR, PDUK, HOSL & Milford Haven).

3 Financial committees, APT, HOTT & WOSL.

Turnover ~ £2bn, Variable Costs ~ £190m, Fixed Cost ~£90m, CAPEX ~ £44m.

Activities:

- Preparation and management of the Refinery’s annual Revenue Budget. Major contribution to long term plan.
- Production of monthly Capex fixed and variable cost reports.
- Execution of balance sheet reconciliation process. Corporation Tax. Monthly Stock Valuation process including liaison with Back Office & Valo dept. Submit relevant stocks government reporting. Duty & Customs excise. Internal controls.
- Production of the Statutory Accounts for PLOR Ltd, Prax Downstream UK plc, Prax Milford Haven Refinery Ltd, and HOSL. Work with auditors to ensure accounts are produced on time and in accordance with UKGAAP.
- Manages FIN Section team. Conducts AIR reviews and sets the objectives of team members. Monitor the performance of the team and identify any training needs. Team is a mix of internal and external staff. Several part-timers. Manage Section's Budgets.
- Provides FIN guidance and support to PLOR Senior Leadership team, 3 x Business Units and Support Departments and 2 x Joint Ventures FIN committees. FIN is audited by Group appointed external auditors (KPMG).
- Section's employees must adhere to all company rules and procedures to ensure compliance with the required quality, safety, environment and security standards and requirements.
- Authorised to signatory all contracts and deeds entered on behalf of the companies with relevant internal authority from the board.
- Ensure all statutory reporting requirements are completed in a timely and reliable manner.
- Responsible for managing engineering cost control function.

Context and Environment:

- Accounting processes to follow all UKGAAP rules and conform to UK legislation. Collaboration with group for treasury, reporting, & shared services

Accountabilities:

- Ensure all accounts are produced are compliant.
- The function operates with a fair degree of autonomy.
- The job holder manages the daily Finance and Accounting matters.
- Prepares the accounts, budgets and financial reports, which are signed off by Senior Leadership Team.
- Ensure budgets are respected and the company meets its corporate and statutory obligations.
- An effective financial and compliance control regime for the Refinery is in place.
- All internal and external financial, cost and internal control reporting requirements are met.

Qualifications:

- Broad accounting experience for 10+ years, including industry experience.
- Educated to degree level. Graduate in Business discipline, Qualified Accountant.
- Leadership, organizational management, and communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of the refining process.
- Capabilities to listen, work transversally, negotiate effectively, promote change and take decisions.
