**About Our House**
The Our House project offers a unique opportunity for individuals under the age of 26 to access our shared progression accommodation, with direct access to support in education, training and employment (ETE). Our progression support work approach enables individuals to recognise their strengths and identify goals towards meaningful living, with a focus on what it will take to become work ready and move towards stable, safe and secure onwards accommodation. The project aims to work with other agencies to help support the individual journeys towards employment and accommodation. Aspire deliver this project in partnership with West Oxfordshire District Council and Cottsway Housing.
**Purpose of the role**
**Key tasks**
Key tasks are intended to be a guide to the range and level of work expected of the job holder. This is not an exhaustive list of all tasks and employees will be expected to carry out such other reasonable duties which may be required from time to time.
- To engage empathetically and non-judgmentally with prospective residents from point of assessment through move in, tenancy establishment, tenancy sustainment and progression to independent accommodation.
- Collaborating with the residents to create support plans which reflect their motivations around ETE and move on goals towards independent living.
- Supporting residents through the progression journey - regularly reviewing the support plan, documenting achieved goals, reflecting on needs, wants and barriers to ensure goals remain relevant and achievable.
- Contributing to a learning environment where residents feel empowered to increase their ownership of personal responsibilities and areas of desired, and required, progression.
- Being creative in opening up linkage to volunteering and employment opportunities in the local area for the benefit of the project participants.
- Individualised and tapering support to assist with accessing appointments, interviews etc
- Building strong, positive and open professional relationships with the residents to encourage honest disclosure of struggles eg mental health, co-ercive relationships.
- Building strong, positive and open relationships with professionals to enhance opportunities for meaningful engagement.
- Practical support eg property upkeep, garden maintenance, move ins, move outs
- To keep up to date case notes on Aspire’s Inform database, including session notes, support plans, risk assessing and safeguarding.
- With the support of the project manager completing individual risk assessments, risk management plans and safety planning from a person centred and trauma informed perspective.
- Linking in with Aspire’s safeguarding team and complying with Aspire Safeguarding policies and procedures.
- To support the Project Manager in capturing quantitative and qualitative data for quarterly reporting.
- To provide Aspire representation, as required, at relevant forums to update partner agencies on our activities and client engagement including quarterly meetings with Oxford City Council local authority partners.
- Support residents to understand, access and manage the benefits they are entitled to, particularly Universal Credit, and prioritise their money management.
- Attend training or other professional development activities as required to effectively perform the role of Housing Progression Support Worker.
**Essential**
- Demonstrable experience of supporting a case load of young people in a supported housing setting
- Evidencable understanding of the difficulties in accessing stable accommodation, education, employment and group participation for young people experiencing significant issues, such as care leavers, ex-offenders, those with experience of addiction, mental health, neurodiversity, homeless-related needs, or a combination of these
- Have experience in developing support packages that are person centred and considerate of barriers faced by young people experiencing situational vulnerabilities and barriers
- Demonstrated high levels of flexibility and adaptability to a constantly changing workflow
- Strong team-working approach with the aim of maintaining a positive and productive work environment
- Demonstrable ability to respond calmly to crisis and deal promptly, effectively, safely and creatively to complex and challenging situations
- Confident written and verbal communication and admin skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with a wide range of colleagues
- Driving license and access to a vehicle for business use
**Desirable**
- Possess some practical knowledge of housing legislation, discretionary housing payments and welfare benefits, and a knowledge of the criminal justice system
- Proven ability to complete risk assessments, risk management plans and reporting of relevant safeguarding
- To have a working knowledge with statutory and volunteer services specific to young people in West Oxfordshire
