We are looking for a kind, caring nursery practitioner to join our team at Acorns In Harrogate. Ideally we are looking for someone who has some experience of working in a nursery and qualified to Level 3. (We would consider a level 2 qualification with optimism to complete a Level 3 qualification). The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimatize within the next level of education.

**JOB PURPOSE**

1. To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care to all the children within the nursery.

2. To give support to other personnel within the nursery and to carry out such duties as may be reasonably requested by senior staff and management.

**Key Responsibilities**

1. To assist in the provision of high quality child care within the EYFS framework and to uphold the standards set by the nursery.

3. To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring setting policies and procedures are observed at all times.

2. To uphold and maintain safe working practices at all times and adhere to the Health and Safety Policy.

3. To ensure that all parents and children have access to, and inclusion in all aspects of the nursery provision.

4. To support the leadership of the room on all aspects of delivery and follow instruction.

5. To accept and adhere to the policies and procedures of the nursery at all times.

6. To implement and adhere to the daily routines as set out in the nursery.

**Main Duties**

1. To keep a proper record of achievement on your key children;
2. Work with parents/carers of special needs children to give full integration in the setting;
3. Support all staff and engage in a good staff team;
4. Liaise with and support parents/carers and other family members;
5. To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, fundraising events;
6. To be flexible within working practices of the setting. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the setting, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.;
7. Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the nursery is fulfilled;
8. Recording accidents in the accident book. Ensure the manager has initialled the report before the parent receives it;
9. Look upon the Setting as a “whole” identifying where your help can be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of children;
10. Ensure child is collected by someone known to Setting;
11. To respect the confidentiality of information received;
12. To develop your role within the team especially with regard as a key worker;
13. Specific child care tasks;
14. The preparation and completion of activities to suit the child's stage of development;
15. To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing;
16. Washing and changing children as required;
17. Providing comfort and warmth to an ill child;
18. To ensure the setting of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development;
19. To be aware of the high profile of the setting and to uphold its standards at all times.

Working hours/days:
This position would require you to work 38 hours per week over 4 days.
