Bognor Regis, United Kingdom Sussex Partnership NHS FoundationTrust Full time

A great opportunity has become available for a full time, highly motivated & passionate Band 7 Dual Diagnosis Practitioner to work within our Inpatient rehabilitation unit in Chichester & Community Rehabilitation service in West Sussex. Supporting individuals with complex psychosis or treatment resistant psychosis & co-occurring problematic substance misuse, as described within the NICE Guidance for Rehabilitation you will provide specialist input into these services alongside the MDT as well as benefitting from the support network of dual diagnosis workers Sussex wide.

For applicants who lack some of the experience or knowledge within the JD/Person Spec, we may be able to offer a band 6-7 development programme. You would be supported by your Dual Diagnosis colleagues to undertake a competency-based development programme of 6-12 months. For the duration of this you would be paid as a B6 and on successful completion you would obtain B7. You would be required to travel to other sites to be supported by your colleagues and may need to spend time within drug and alcohol services observing practice. If you are not successful in completing the development programme after 12 months and cannot demonstrate extenuating circumstances, you may be redeployed to another band 6 position within the trust.

Successful applicants will be able to improve the quality of assessment and treatment for people with both mental health and substance misuse issues, to have experience in and specialist knowledge of evidence-based interventions and lead on their dissemination across clinical areas and be able to establish professional relationships with other system partners and professionals to shape better care.

Within this role you would be required to provide specialist training and advice to other professionals and agencies, to clinically supervise other members of your teams, and to facilitate area communities of practice to promote skills sharing, reciprocity and clinical network development.

You will need to be able to provide effective leadership and supportive management which promotes high performance standards both individually and as a team. The Trust's success is dependent on the contributions of all, and leaders will need to understand the Trust's priorities and those of our external partners and translate these into opportunities to improve outcomes for the populations we serve.

We recognise that working in mental health can be stressful at times, so we prioritise staff welfare; providing regular supervision, reflective practice, mentoring, and any other support that our staff need to ensure their wellbeing. We also encourage flexible working. We know that a positive work/life balance brings about huge health-related benefits, which has a positive impact on the care we provide. Please speak to us about flexible working, for example, partial homeworking, part-time hours, or flexible start/finish times. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen.

Our vision is to provide outstanding care and treatment; the people that we employ are at the heart of making this vision a reality. If you've got the passion, the belief, the drive and the talent to help us achieve our vision then we would like to hear from you.

Within this role you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide service users in line with the national agenda of Getting It Right First Time, a whole system approach to recovery from mental ill health, and to maximise and individual's quality of life and social inclusion. You will also be part of the Dual Diagnosis Practitioners Network within the Trust and attend fortnightly meetings to support implementation of the Dual Diagnosis strategy. You will receive specialist dual diagnosis clinical supervision. You will need to be able to demonstrate effective communication skills, be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and flexible.

This post will cover Bognor, Chichester and parts of North West Sussex including Horsham and Crawley and as such you will need to demonstrate the ability to travel throughout the area. There is the option for your office base to be either in Bognor Regis, Chichester or Horsham.
