The role of Caretaker is a key support role to the Group Facilities Manager at Countrywide House.
The role requires a flexible individual to ensure all aspects of the role are completed efficiently to a consistently high standard. The Facilities Caretaker will be the focal point for the general functioning of the building as a comfortable work place forthe staff and visitors. The scope of this role will include multiple and varied tasks and as such the successful applicant will be flexible, friendly and efficient in the execution of his or her duties and try to resolve or escalate situations as needed.
**The main duties**:

- As the primary key holder, unlock the building at 7am each workday morning (Monday - Friday) and disable intruder alarm.
- Switch on lights in the stairwells and offices in readiness for staff arrival and report any defective lighting.
- Monitor and control building temperature and adjust heating and/or air conditioning units as appropriate.
- Facilitate test of installed fire alarms each week on an agreed day and time.
- Monitor and maintain paper and toner supplies to each shared printer in the building. Resolve minor printer errors and report any failures which are not easily corrected locally.
- Assign and isolate parking spaces for visitors on a daily basis.
- Set up approved parking permits for new members of staff.
- On arrival of daily post go through and sort into department trays.
- Late in the day sort and "Frank" outgoing mail in readiness for Royal Mail collection.
- Provide "in fill" cover for main reception during the working day as required.
- Assume the role of "Senior Fire Marshall" after suitable training.
- Provide General Maintenance to include but not limited to; Broken Desks and Chairs, Window blinds, Carpet tiles, simple plumbing issues etc.
- Maintain Stationary stocks for the whole building, order via approved website.
- Assist in Desk moves together with the IT department.
- Monitor the operation of the CCTV equipment and report any issues.
- Manage "Access Control" system and provide reports as requested.
- Monitor onsite drinks and vending machines, manage and report issues as appropriate.
- After completion of daily duties, provide assistance to the "Reactive/Compliance Help Desk" under the guidance of the Help Desk Supervisor.

**Skills & Experience Required by a Trainee Property Coordinator**:

- Ideally you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to liaise confidently at all levels
- Team player - you will have the ability to fit in with a small team and help colleagues as work load dictates
- Knowledge of excel advantageous
- Practical with DIY skills
- Understanding safe working practices and health and safety legislation
