Laboratory Assistant

A position has become available for a Laboratory Assistant / Receptionist in our specialist poultry and game bird veterinary practice and laboratory. Due to our expanding caseload we require an enthusiastic and motivated individual to help with laboratory, reception and admin duties.
**Objectives**
**Laboratory assistant duties including**:
- Sample handling
- Bacteriology
- Microscopy
- Parasitology including faecal egg counting
- Assisting vets with post-mortem examinations
- Keeping the lab and PM room clean and tidy
**Receptionist and admin duties including**:
- Greeting clients
- Answering the phone
- Diary management
- Postage duties
- Taking client payments
- Typing reports
- Data entry
- Booking out medicines
- Using our practice management system
- Any other jobs necessary to the running of the practice
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Have the ability to prioritise tasks and complete them with attention to detail within a busy environment
- Have good IT skills
- Have a good telephone manner
- Have a friendly, positive attitude and good client skills
- Have a willingness to learn and the ability to follow protocols

Laboratory / veterinary practice experience is preferred but not essential.
**Salary**: £20,000.00-£24,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
