As Safe Learning Environment Partner, the post holder will be responsible for coordinating and embedding the NHS England Safe Learning Environment Charter (SLEC) and all the underlying principles within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The objective is to strengthen the workforce by advancing high-quality learning environments, reducing learner attrition, and improving retention of qualified staff. The post holder will work collaboratively with medical and non-medical colleagues within the organisation to ingrain the charter across all learning environments and all professions within them. This will provide the supportive learning environment required across all professions to allow learners to become well-rounded professionals with the right skills and knowledge to provide safe and compassionate care of the highest quality.

As well as being embedded into Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the post holder will build strong relationships within the Integrated Care System (ICS), Higher education Institute (HEI) partners and colleagues regionally through the South West SLEC network; sharing information and best practice as necessary.

Close working with the Education, Learning and Development Service, People Promise Partner, Project Management, Post Graduate Medical Education, Undergrad Medical Education and the Associate Director for Education, Learning and Culture to form part of our Trust wide Cultural Improvement.

Main

**Responsibilities**:
Develop a robust project plan to ensure the co-ordination and embedding of the SLEC into the organisation by working closely with colleagues to identify all activity and interventions already taking place within the organisation relating to the SLEC charter priorities. A maturity matrix self-assessment tool is provided to assist the postholder in identifying any gaps in SLEC delivery.

Work closely with stakeholders within the organisation and partner HEIs to identify suitable actions and interventions to fill any gaps in delivery of SLEC.

Develop and monitor progress towards robust metrics (qualitative and quantitative) to ensure delivery of all aspects of SLEC interventions.

Report on progress towards the identified project plan and metrics to the Education, Learning and Development Steering Group and thus to People & OD Delivery Group.

Collaborate with colleagues across all professions to ensure feedback, insight and evidence gained is used to improve and standardise learner experience throughout the organisation. This includes but is not limited to the analysis and sharing of National Education and Training Survey (NETS) data, the identification and use of existing resources, and areas of good practice already available.

Work closely with NHS England South West Workforce, Training and Education Directorate, and the South West SLEC network, sharing learning to improve learning environments, reduce learner attrition, improve retention.

Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is the ‘Golden Thread’ that runs through the SLEC Charter

All SLEC activities must be routinely reviewed to ensure they are inclusive, accessible and that diversity is valued throughout.

Ensuring relevant research, evidence, and examples of positive practice in this area are shared widely, fully understood, and applied.

Partnership and cross boundary working

Adoption of sophisticated matrix working across the organisation, the ICS, and regionally to develop and sustain cohesive, productive, and sustainable relationships.

Leadership for transformational change

Modelling and influencing positive transformation - negotiating with others to achieve the best outcomes for learners and those supporting learners and learning environments within the organisation.
