Van Cleaner

**Car Cleaner / Valeter / Detailer**

We are a small, Van dealership based between Farnham & Hindhead and have been in business since the 80s.

We sell about two to three vans per week and our stock is generally one to three years old. The purpose of this role is to return the vans to “like new” condition ready for sale for their new owners.

This job is nothing like that of the people you see cleaning cars in car-parks or old petrol stations in the cold and wet. That said, it is a physical job with lots of movement working at high and low level, it is not a ‘heavy’ job and would suit anyone agile as need to clean small spaces under seats and things is really most of the job.

Working hours are 10am to 2.30pm, five days per week so could be completed within school hours; a pro-rata 3 or 4 day week such as Tue-Friday or Tue-Thursday is maybe possible for the right person but you would obviously get less money.

However, the work is year-round and includes bank holidays so you would have to think about holiday childcare if that is an issue for you.

The work has to be done to a very high standard and is actually known as ‘Detailing’ which is a skilled job. No experience is necessary as full training will be given to the right person.

It is not a high-speed or high stress job but rather a high-detail job, 3 vans a week in 22.5 hours sounds easy (once you are good at it, it is) but the work is called Detailing for good reason as it is all about attention to detail and you have to have this as a part of your core personality.

Two key aspects of this job are;
1) You generally work alone on one van from start to finish without interruption and there are few opportunities for social interaction. If these detail and social aspects are not attractive to you then you will hate the job finding it pointless, boring and lonely.

2) There is no Cell-Phone coverage or WiFi for you to use and you will not be allowed to use your phone at work, if that will not work for you then this job is not for you.

If however you are the kind of person that enjoys being left alone and getting things done, and find things like untidiness and mess simply irritating and annoying then the job is easy and satisfying. An interior can take 1 hour or 2 days depending on all sorts of reasons but with the right skills and detail both will end up looking like new - this aspect is the challenge but also the fun and achievement in the job.
- Pay is £1,000 per whole working month, working hours are 22.5 hours per week Monday to Friday including Bank Holidays.
- We close every year between Xmas and New Year and that month pays £750.
- This is a real job not CASH-IN-HAND with PAYE, Pay Slips and Pension (if required) + holiday pay.
- Apart from an initial wash outside, working conditions are dry & warm in new buildings using the best tools and hydraulic ramps.
- We are at GU10 2LU - this location is very rural and not accessible via public transport so you would need reliable personal transport, it is however very beautifully set it acres of privately owned countryside.
