Support in all activities necessary to ensure that the organisation meets its responsibilities to ensure high quality care for patients living with a diagnosis of Dementia and their families. Take overall responsibility to ensure the highest standards of professional and quality care are delivered within the trust policies, protocols and guidelines. Lead on the operational delivery of the Trust Dementia Strategy with support from the Deputy Chief Nurse. Implement the trust values and beliefs ensuring they are embedded into everyday practice and evaluate their impact on the patients experience.

Provide strong, professional and visible leadership to staff within the clinical areas. Lead and motivate staff by giving clear direction and setting achievable objectives. Work across professional boundaries; act as a professional role model to Senior Sisters/Charge Nurse, nursing/AHP staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team. In collaboration with the senior team, continually improve and maintain standards of fundamental patient care to meet the required local and national standards.

Support teams to implement evidence-based practice, initiate, manage and evaluate changes that lead to improved, high standards of care and in particular any service changes In collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team, ensure the users of the service and their families have an opportunity to feedback (via Surveys, Family and Friends Test, concerns and complaints). Work alongside managers/leaders to support the evaluation of feedback and redesign services as required. Adhere to the NMCs professional regulations and ensure that nursing staff practice within the regulatory framework and re-validate. Work collaboratively across organisational boundaries with partner organisations, with relevant colleagues and clinical experts in other organisations, to review and share quality assurance and improvement strategies.

Lead on the sharing of best practice both within the Trust and externally. Management/Leadership Contribute to the delivery of key targets by assisting the teams in collecting, collating and validating the evidence necessary to demonstrate compliance with relevant national and local agreed professional standards. Proactively and positively contribute to the successful overall performance of the Trust. To provide clear, visible leadership to create a culture of compassion, creativity and candour which is truly committed to improving the patient experience at every step of their care pathway and support the inclusion of patients and carers in the co-design of service.

The post holder will also be required to provide verbal and written reports to corporate steering groups and Divisional Governance forums, Commissioners and Trust Board Executives on themes relating to Dementia. Responsible for the line management of Admiral Nurse - both performance and attendance, in line with trust policies. Promote the health and well-being of staff, patients and their carers. Formulate, comply and promote compliance with Trust policies and guidelines e.g.

Health and Safety, Clinical Risk and Infection Control. Ensure that approved budgets are spent effectively and in accordance with agreed procedures. Develop new skills and knowledge pertaining to the role as required. Research Promote a research culture within the clinical areas to identify current new knowledge and deliver evidence-based care.

Ensure active involvement in National Audit of Dementia (NAD) clinical audit programme commissioned by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership and lead on this for the Trust. Ensure the active involvement of all nursing staff in local and Trust wide research and audit projects. Work with the senior ward sister/charge nurse and research nurses to ensure patients are offered research opportunities, as appropriate. Education Lead on the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of relevant specialist training and education to develop nursing and multi-professional staff knowledge and skills to enhance the quality experienced by the service user and their families.

Ensure all staff within line management responsibility have an annual personal development review and are set achievable objectives. Incorporate development opportunities into training plan and ensure there is a fair and equitable access to education and developmental opportunities. Respon
