Ou Fabric Mender's (Burler) are accountable for inspecting and repairing defects in our woven cloth using needle and thread, & tweezers and scissors, picking out defective yarn whilst scanning and feeling the fabric to make sure it's 100% perfect.

The fabric is moved over the inspection board whilst looking for loose threads, mispicks or defective pile. Fabric Mending (burling) is essential to ensuring that the products we produce are of the highest quality.

The Fabric Mender’s priority job is to remove and reweave mispicks and insert pile or tufts using a needle or tufting device. You will also be required to record yardage inspected and repaired.

Experience of fabric mending is desired but not essential, and applicants with hand sewing experience would be an advantage.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Inspecting woven fabric / fault finding
- Ascertaining what type of mend is required for each design
- Mending faults i.e. knots, dropping ends
- Using tools in a correct and safe manner
- Maintaining quality standards
- Communicating with the supervisor any problems that may arise
- Entering data onto a computer

- Good concentration levels due to the fine nature of this work
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Must have a methodical approach to new tasks and problems
- Hard working individual with proactive approach to their work and high attention to detail

**Working Hours**

39 hours a week working 07:15am to 4:00pm Monday to Thursday and 07:30am to 11:30am Friday each week.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £10.50-£12.50 per hour
