**Apprentice Gardner**who is professional and highly motivated with a "can-do" attitude and a passion for horticulture is required for a well-established private members club based in South West London.

**FULL TRAINING PROVIDED - APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME**

**SALARY**:£20,500 - £22,400 per annum + Benefits (see below)

**LOCATION**:South West London

**JOB TYPE**:Full-Time, Permanent

**WORKING HOURS**:6am to 2:30pm,40 hrs per week including attending a one day a week course in horticulture, post probationary period

**JOB OVERVIEW**

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Apprentice Gardner who is professional and highly motivated with a "can-do" attitude and a passion for horticulture.

Working as an Apprentice Gardner you will be required to assist in the skilled care, maintenance and development of the horticultural features and garden at the Club.

As an Apprentice Gardner you will join a dedicated team of 20 individuals, maintaining the grounds of the Club, including an 18 hole golf course, four croquet lawns, thirty tennis courts, padel and squash courts as well as the clubs gardens.

**DUTIES**

Your duties as an Apprentice Gardner will include:

- Garden maintenance to a high standard - including weeding, mulching, edging, raking, digging over, staking and tying in, pruning, dead heading, be preparation, and tidying
- Vegetable growing in the raised bed garden
- Seasonal propagation and growing on
- Composting and mulching
- Bed renovation and garden development where necessary
- Maintaining areas to enhance biodiversity and wildlife including meadows, wooded areas, and grass areas
- Lawn maintenance
- The efficient and safe use, care and maintenance of machinery and equipment
- General site maintenance including pathway and gutters
- Participation in training to develop a wide range of skills
- Support all sections of the department including sports surface maintenance
- Ensure all tools and equipment are used correctly, efficiently and safely in keeping with current Health & Safety practice
- Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned, maintained and repaired where possible and report faults and losses
- Operate the machinery in a safe manner in accordance with the Clubs and Safety Policy, the Codes of Practice for safe handling and manufacturer guidelines
- The post holder will undertake a part-time horticultural course within London, and any other training courses identified throughout the placement
