**JOB OVERVIEW**

The Head of Curriculum and Progression will provide the leadership and vision to deliver excellent student success through the development of teaching, learning and assessment, and curriculum design and implementation that embeds outstanding collaborative working with both the University and the Study Group network.

The successful applicant will support the Head of the Centre and join the senior management team. Consequently, applicants must have a proven track record of effectively and efficiently running a small to medium-sized academic department, with experience in managing different curriculum pathways, several direct reports and rigorous and following robust quality assurance processes.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Articulate and implement a clear vision to drive forward continuous improvement and enable the Centre to achieve aspirational targets for student success.
- Contribute to strategic planning, policy development and operational activities in areas including human resources; academic development; learning, teaching and assessment; and academic quality assurance and enhancement as part of the Centre management team.
- Provide effective and efficient academic leadership, management and coordination of staff resources across the educational teams in the Centre, working closely with the Head of the Centre and the management team.
- Analyse data and feedback from a wide variety of sources to monitor progress towards progression targets, planning and implementing remedial actions where necessary.
- Assist with the periodic re-approval process including the development of the programmes in conjunction with University academics and abiding by Study Group’s internal approval processes.
- As part of the Centre management team, contribute towards effective day-to-day management of the ISC including inducting staff, implementing health and safety policies, arranging cover for absent staff, responding to the views, needs and requests of students, Cardiff University, staff, parents, and sponsors; attending meetings as appropriate, and inform strategic planning and resource allocation.

**EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
- A Bachelor’s degree and postgraduate qualification (Master’s or above) (Essential)
- Teaching qualification or HEA Fellowship (Essential)
- Further management or leadership qualifications or a willingness to undertake such (Essential)
- Experience of providing leadership in a complex multi-disciplinary environment, with recent evidence of significant success in bringing individuals together and forming a strong team ethos (Essential)
- Experience working with international students and an understanding and knowledge of welfare, well-being and cultural issues which may arise (Desirable)
- Experience in HR duties, such as delivering training and taking part in the recruitment process (Desirable)
