We have a part time 1.0 WTE Band 6 post for an Orthoptist (previous clinical experience is desirable but not essential).

Band 6 Orthoptic post provides an exciting opportunity to work in CLCH community Paediatric Eye Service in the Borough of Barnet.

The post holder will be a member of the dynamic multi-disciplinary Orthoptic/Optometrist team, working with a paediatric caseload.

We are looking for somebody with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a positive and innovative approach to service development and a commitment to working within a multi-disciplinary team.

This will include assisting in running Orthoptic clinics in CLCH community clinics.

You will be responsible for the assessment and management of children.

You will be required to communicate complex needs and provide training to junior staff and support Orthoptic students on placement.

You should have good organisational skills, a commitment to multi-disciplinary working and an understanding of working alongside services.

To be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing all categories of patients referred to the Orthoptic service, and to refer patients on where necessary.

To act as an independent, autonomous professional in the clinic and work independently and unsupervised within the code of practice of the professional body.

To participate effectively in multi-professional approaches to health care delivery, liaising with Optometrists, Orthoptist and other Health Care Professionals.

To acknowledge cross-professional boundaries and employ appropriate referral procedures.
