**The post**:
Are you an excellent strategic HR leader? Would you relish helping ensure Scotland’s public health authority is best placed to improve Scotland’s public health and tackle inequalities? If so we’d be keen to hear from you. This post of Chief Officer - People will inform the strategic direction of Public Health Scotland from a workforce perspective. The role will provide strategic HR leadership and direction to the PHS Chief Executive, the Director of Strategy, Governance and Performance and the PHS Senior Leadership team. A key objective of the post will be to lead, shape and drive the development and implementation of the Workforce and People Strategy and local workforce plans to enable the delivery of Public Health Scotland’s vision and strategy [link to strategy]. This post is embedded in Public Health Scotland and reports to the Director of HR and Workforce Development for National Services Scotland and the Director of Strategy, Governance and Performance within Public Health Scotland (PHS).

You must be experienced in collaborative working and in developing effective and positive relationships with key stakeholders and providing a positive role model for partnership working and relationship management. You will be MCIPD qualified and have senior HR management experience operating at a strategic and operational business partner level in a medium sized, complex organisation within a unionised environment.

In addition, you should be an inspirational and motivational leader with excellent team-working skills along with influencing and persuasion skills with the ability to present ideas and proposals.

National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland working in partnership with other NHS Boards (including Public Health Scotland) provide expert support and advice at a strategic and operational level through the delivery of effective corporate services including Human Resources.

**Location and working pattern**:
We are currently operating a Hybrid model of working, however some travel to our Edinburgh or Glasgow offices may be required.
