The Delivery Suite Coordinator holds a key clinical leadership role that will ensure high quality care pathways are upheld and safety in practice is demonstrated at all times.

This role offers you personal, and professional enrichment. There may be opportunities for rotation though-out the maternity service, as part of our programme to ensure skills are maintained and a regular fresh eyes approach to service development is upheld.

This key leadership role is vital in providing an appropriate environment for the safe assessment and management for all antenatal, labouring and postnatal women. This role requires professionaland clinical integrity and provides the key pivotal communication between all aspects of the service to ensure women's pathways are appropriate and safe. This role is integral to ensuring appropriate care pathways to promote quality, safety and patient satisfaction at all times.

Provide an intrapartum service of exceptional quality to women and their families, ensuring that the staff providing this service are competent and confident.

Identify and assess changing clinical situations and take appropriate action to ensure the continuing wellbeing of women and babies.

Prioritise risk situations with clinical expertise, ensuring that appropriate action is taken without delay, actively involving the skills of the Obstetric Consultant on call if required.

Support midwives and medical staff in situations of high risk, assessing the situation on a continuing basis, ensuring that staff with an appropriate level of experience and clinical skills are involved in the care of all women and babies.

In the event of the safety of the woman and their babies being compromised in any way, contact/inform the Senior Midwife On Call for advice

Promote clinical risk management as an integral component of CNST standards.

Ensure that at all times sufficient staff of appropriate seniority are readily available by taking responsibility for formulating off duty rotas.

Ensure that staff have a good knowledge and appreciation of the service’s Risk Management objectives. Identify through risk assessment, any risks they feel exist within the unit or during the delivery of services.

Document and report clinical incidents and near misses in the appropriate way and assist in the investigation of any incident or complaint, taking appropriate preventative action when necessary and ensuring that the complaints procedure is adhered to.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Have overall (24 hour rotational) continuing clinical responsibility for the Delivery Suite. This also means covering for colleague’s absence at short notice to ensure a safe service
- Foster a culture that promotes woman/pregnant person centred care and supports individualised care plans, particularly for those with complex needs
- Provide an intrapartum service of exceptional quality to women and their families, ensuring that the staff providing this service are competent and confident.
- Be a proactive, clinical lead practitioner and role model in promoting evidence based care and midwifery culture in clinical practice.
- Assist with the development and implementation of multidisciplinary guidelines/policies and audit.
