**Overview**:
Men Only IOW is a non-clinical, peer-led organisation, that provides a nurturing and non-judgmental space for men to seek solace and support. Our fundamental purpose is to serve as a steadfast pillar of support, eradicate the stigma surrounding men's mental health, and cultivate enduring community bonds through meaningful conversations, empathetic listening, and genuine relationship-building.

We are looking for a part-time Peer Support Worker to join our team working in our base in Ryde, Rodger & Steve's Place.

This is part of a Mental Health community initiative that aims to complement those provided by primary and secondary care.

This role has been created for people with lived experience who believe they can build relationships and support service users to work towards their recovery pathway.

The Peer Support Worker will work as part of a team that includes experienced volunteers. The team will provide initial introductions in a safe setting, focusing on the direct needs of the individuals ensuring a collaborative approach to meet the needs of the service user and their identified goals.

**Car driver preferred but not essential.**

**Benefits**:

- Part-time contract is available to work 16 hours per week over 4 days, this is a fixed-term contract for 12 months.
- Based in Ryde, Isle of Wight.
- Shift pattern Monday - Friday on a flexible working rota including weekends, evenings and bank holidays to meet the needs of the service.
- Hourly salary £13.19 rising to £13.59 after a probation period.
- Excellent accredited training.

**Skills**:

- Willingness to learn.
- You must be currently resident in the UK.
- You must have the right to work in the UK.
- You must be confident working as part of a team and on your own.
- Excellent communication skills.
- You must be friendly and well-organised with an excellent work ethic.

**Duties**:

- To work with clients in helping them to manage their emotional well-being and support their mental health.
- To assist individuals that may present to our place.
- Support clients via signposting to appropriate services if necessary.
- Reduction of presentations to A&E as well as the use of services for a mental health need. Supporting to divert mental health crisis escalation or maintain their post-crisis recovery.
- Facilitate a safe space to promote peer-to-peer support amongst clients.
- Use an online management programme to add clients and record case notes.
