The role will involve day to day scheduling of the theatre and diagnostic operating lists. You will be a valued member of the team responsible for managing patient queries, appointments, and assist with training and troubleshooting when required. The Central Booking Coordinators act as an essential point of contact for a wide variety of stakeholders including Nurses, Consultants, Administrative Staff, and all patients waiting for outpatient procedures and operations.
- Using LUNA on a daily basis, liaise with Patient Pathway Team across the Trust as a whole, to ensure co-ordination of all elements of the patient pathway. This may include highlighting patient target dates to ensure that investigations/diagnostics are carried out and results received in a timely manner
- To manage theatre lists, bookings, and cancellations
- For all internal C2C referrals, responsible for raising C2C form and submitting it to appropriate specialty within 48 hours of referral
- To highlight any potential breaches or delays in the patient’s pathway to the Team Leader
- Attend regular team meetings arranged by Team Leader (e.g. PTL meetings)
- To be independently responsible for, and actively manage waiting lists, and theatre lists
- To ensure that the relevant kit and surgical equipment for particular procedures are arranged
- To liaise directly with patients to book, cancel, and rebook any outpatient procedure dates
- Monitor overbooking of theatre lists to ensure that there is low risk of patient cancellations
- Manage changes in consultant and nurse rotas which may result in changes to theatre lists and patient moves as a result
- To use new working systems within the Clinical Office to promote an efficient service
- Working as part of a team

**The Central Booking Coordinator will provide**:

- A fast and efficient service which allows patients surgical procedures to be booked
- Using patient administration IT systems
- Acting as front-line staff, providing excellent customer service to patients
- A comprehensive administrative service to the Consultants and their Medical team
- Organise their workload with the Consultants and specialty teams, co-ordinating with other Clinical Office Co-ordinators to ensure that an efficient service is provided
- To work with the Patient Pathway Team to ensure that pathways are actively managed
