**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title: Part time Minibus Driver**
**Hourly Rate: £10.00 (pay increase from 1st April)**
**Hours per week: Fully flexible**
**Responsible to: WCT Ltd Transport Manager**
**Contract period: Bank Driver**

Primary responsibility is to drive Weardale Community Transport vehicles for various user groups and to drive patients from home to various hospitals and from hospital to home.
Also to work with the Transport Manager to maintain the valeting and maintenance programme for all the vehicles.

As part of your work programme you may be required to carry out other driving or driving-related duties that are deemed appropriate to the post.

In carrying out this job you would be required to adhere to the Ambulance Service
Policies and Guidelines as detailed in the Ambulance Service Level Agreement, which you are obliged to read. (A copy of this agreement is held in the Community
Transport office at Weardale Hub and is available for you to refer to). You are also required to adhere to WCT policies and procedures (copies available in the office)

Some specific training will be given to enable you to fulfil the requirements of the post. This training is mandatory.

**JOB TASKS**

To provide transport for patients to and from various hospitals. To assist with any extra work that the NEAS Patient Transport Service is unable to provide due to their increased workloads. We run a single crew, non blue light service for patients with mobility issues who cannot be transported by taxis. These patients are usually travelling to hospital for prearranged appointments.

To drive vehicles hired out to member groups as required In accordance with WCT
Minibus Hire Policy.

To provide assistance to passengers as and when appropriate.

To ensure that Weardale Community Transport safety standards are complied with at all times and that passengers are carried in a safe and comfortable manner.

To assist the Transport Manager to ensure that the vehicles used by Weardale
Community Transport are maintained in a clean and tidy condition both inside and out.

To ensure that all vehicle faults and defects are brought promptly to the attention of the Transport Manager so that remedial action can be arranged.

To take vehicles to and from maintenance sites for repairs/servicing, according to agreed maintenance and servicing scheduling.

To maintain a good understanding of the Highway Code and relevant legislation such as speed limits relating to minibuses, seatbelt laws and passenger transport safety.

To remove and replace seats as required with respect to wheelchair access and undertake securing of wheelchairs in a safe and proper way.

To promote the safe use of WCTs minibuses so as to benefit passengers, drivers and other road users.

To wear ID and uniform (as provided) and to maintain a smart and business-like appearance at all times.

To maintain confidentiality for clients and confidentiality of records at all times in line with GDPR.

To have regard for health and safety for self and others at all times when carrying out duties.

To implement all Weardale Community Transport Health & Safety policies.

To work with voluntary drivers as required.

To carry out any other duties commensurate with the salary and job purpose.

It is the driver’s responsibility to comply fully with the law regarding driving of a vehicle, including speeding and parking. Any fines incurred as a result of not complying with the law will be the responsibility of the driver.

**IT IS EXPECTED OF ALL DRIVERS THAT THEY SUBMIT THEMSELVES TO**
**TRAINING PROVIDED BY W.C.T. PARTICULARLY MOVING AND HANDLING**
**PROCEDURES, FIRST AID, MiDAS (MINIBUS DRIVERS AWARENESS**
**SCHEME) AND DISABILITY AWARENESS, AND AN ENHANCED DBS CHECK.**

Weardale Community Transport has a "Duty of Care" to all its volunteers, paid staff and passengers. It is expected of all staff to ensure that this "Duty of Care" is extended to all passengers. It is the driver’s responsibility for the safe carriage of all travellers from point of collection to arrival; for those passengers with additional support needs, it is expected that the driver ensures that a “Responsible person” who is qualified to receive them meets them.
